Report and photos from the activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the Three Weeks of Action

On February 27th and 28th United Women Banja Luka organized a meeting/workshop in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Representatives of media, nongovernmental organizations and governmental institutions from all part of Bosnia and Herzegovina were present at this meeting/workshop.

First, we introduced all the participants with the history and significance of WACC and GMMP. Afterwards, we presented them with the date from Global Report, Central and East Europe (CEE) Report and Bosnia and Herzegovina Report. These presentations were followed by a discussion.

Main goal of this meeting/workshop was to involve all of these participants in Three Weeks of Global Action on Gender and the Media, and to distribute the WACC Advocacy toolkit. Accept the actions each nongovernmental organization will do separately, United Women will coordinate a join action of media monitoring on March 8th

Ten representatives of media and nongovernmental organization will monitor 30 media, each one TV station central news, radio station central news and one daily newspaper. United Women on March 1st sent a letter to all these media in order to invited them to join the UNESCO and UNIFEM appeal and to take immediate action to ensure that they represent women and men in a fair and balanced way. In other words, we asked editor-in-chief to ensure that a women editor edits central news on March 8th.

All these activities, together with the Global, CEE and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Report, United Women Banja Luka and Helsinki Citizens Assembly will present to the public on a press conference on March 7th.
