Aside from the fact that GMMP research is conducted once every five years, the 2009/2010 project is especially significant as it coincides with key global processes scheduled for 2010 when the report will be released. These include the March review of progress made in the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action (Beijing +15) and the Millennium Development Goals' Review Summit. The GMMP results will lend further support to both reviews by providing news media-based statistics – indicators of progress or alternatively, indicators of persistent gaps – in the achievement of some commitments made in both documents.
