Here is a place for everyone involved in GMMP 2009/2010 to introduce themselves. There are some really phenomenal individuals and groups participating in this project and I think it would be wonderful for us all to get to know the people we are collaborating with. Whether you’re a media professional, a student, a researcher, or just plain interested, introduce yourself here!

Hi All!

I am very excited to be part of this GMMP. It has come up in various conversations with past participants that one important value of the GMMP are the spaces it creates to form and forment solidarity networks, in a struggle that can at times be quite isolating. My background is in feminist political economy, in studies of precarious labour in which many women, particularly in the Global South, are located. Working on 'gender and media' now for the past couple of years, I have come to appreciate even more the symbiotic relationship between discourse and practice. Struggles won in other arenas need to be won too at the level of discourse; as my Latin American friends say, a transformation of the 'imaginario social' is paramount to enable new ways of thinking and doing. The GMMP in numerous respects opens up spaces for such a transformation. I look forward to being a part of the experience.

I am Maria Jacobson, chair in Allt är Möjligt Media watch Group in Sweden. We have participated in two GMMP and look forward to a third. The survey is very useful in regional media educational work and training of journalists. I am not capabble of updating my profile so I try to upload an image of myself here.
